In October, URA celebrated the life of a treasured partner, locked arms with Love and Care Ministries to bring assistance to Abilene’s unhoused population, and began its second internship partnership with Tel Aviv University! URA Guatemala brought much needed resources to a town impacted by a deadly flood, and celebrated tomorrows leaders with Kids Day!

August 2023
URA finished yet another Preparedness Peace training, ensuring that another church community is prepared for potential disasters. United Rescue Alliance Guatemala began putting the finishing touches on their new community center that they plan to use as a place to teach important life skills to the community! URA America gets ready to visit URA Guatemala and bring much needed resources.

March 2023
March was a big month for United Rescue Alliance! We hired two new staff and distributed the final sum of funding to the survivors of the Eastland Complex Wildfire.
February 2023
This month, URA founders Angel and Norm Poorman traveled to Washington D.C. for Estamos Unidos. URA Guatemala Executive Director, Brenda De Zamorà, joined the Poormans for this amazing opportunity that took place at the Museum of the Bible.
January 2023
This month, United Rescue Alliance has launched Tuesday Night Worship at Camp Barkeley. With the establishment of the House of Prayer at Camp Barkeley, the Poormans saw a wonderful opportunity to begin cultivating an atmosphere of prayer and worship at the land. This event will be hosted weekly at the Camp Barkeley Worship Center at 6:30 on Tuesdays.
END OF YEAR REPORT 2022
Our teams have been working with our global partners and response network to bring hope and light to those affected by these events. We have witnessed the faithfulness of God as He provided us opportunities to serve in our community and around the world in the midst of crisis and disaster.
November 2022
This month, our team continued to connect with families and partners to determine current needs and potential resources regarding the long-term recovery process for the Eastland Complex fire, and the Mesquite Heat fire. In addition to determining available resources, we provided immediate financial assistance to each family.
October 2022
This month, our team went to Florida to serve those affected in Collier County. In partnership with Grow Church, URA has successfully set up a warehouse for the storage and distribution of immediate goods. We are so thankful to our partner, Austin Disaster Relief Network, for providing resources such as cleaning supplies, cots, and hygiene kits, to bring to families for immediate needs.
September 2022
This month, Hurricane Fiona struck the nation of Puerto Rico. In order to help those impacted by Fiona, United Rescue Alliance has partnered with Love Brave. United Rescue Alliance sent Watts of Love solar lights to bring safety and security to those experiencing darkness. Additionally, we provided URA back packs to help survivors have a tangible place to store necessary documents or found items in their recovery.
August 2022
URA and Camp Barkeley had the honor of hosting members of the 12th Armory Division who trained at Camp Barkeley during World War 2. The men in this division went on to free 10 of the Jewish concentration camps and played a vital role in ending the war. Four veterans and their families returned to Camp Barkeley for the 12th Armory Division reunion
July 2022
This summer, we celebrated 2 years of United Rescue Alliance! We are in awe of the amazing work that the Lord has done through URA since its origin. Thank you for standing with us and for pouring into this organization through time, prayer, and finances. We are so thankful to be stewards of God's vision to create resilient communities that stop for the one. In honor of this special milestone, we would like to highlight some amazing accomplishments from these past two years. Thank you for championing the cause and carrying the torch.
June 2022
Our teams are staying productive this month! We are continuing to serve in Eastland County, Taylor County, hosting CERT trainings in Guatemala and Texas, and sending food overseas to Poland. Thank you to everyone partnering with us. We know the need is great, and together we are bringing hope.
May 2022
This month we responded to a wildfire in our own back yard. The Mesquite Heat Wildfire erupted in Taylor County earlier this month and burned over 11,000 acres. Camp Barkeley did experience significant damage due the fires; however, there was no structural damage to dorms, homes, mess hall, or worship center. United Rescue Alliance is continuing to utilize URA Connect for Case Management to ensure that community needs are communicated.
April 2022
This month, United Rescue Alliance continued to respond to the Eastland Complex Wildfires. In the county of Eastland, approximately 140 structures were destroyed. Our team facilitated two community wide educational forums to assist the community leaders in establishing a framework for long term recovery.
March 2022
URA responded to the Eastland Complex Wildfires. This consisted of seven fires that engulfed nearly 100,000 acres in flames across Texas. In the county of Eastland, approximately 140 structures were destroyed. A URA team deployed last week to assist in case management and initial financial assistance to families in need
February 2022
United Rescue Alliance assisted in the facilitation of massive disaster simulation in Guatemala. URA partnered with 6 organizations including the Guatemalan government and other Central American countries. This large-scale simulation included hundreds of buildings and thousands of civilian participants. URA activated 24 volunteers who served for a total of 122 hours.
January 2022
In December, URA's team embarked on an initial deployment to aid in relief for the tornadoes in Tennessee and Kentucky. Since this response effort, United Rescue Alliance has continued to assist in the rebuilding process. A URA team local to Tennessee has been coordinating with community leaders to distribute resources to those in need.

October 2021
Teams in Guatemala continued to serve in the communities of San Rafeal and Villa Canales. For the past few months, URA has partnered with several organizations to tear down and rebuild the home of a family of six in San Rafael. This building process has also served as a great training opportunity for our team and other community members.
September 2021
From 2015 to 2020 United Rescue Alliance has conducted CERT classes internationally; however, CERT is now being utilized at the local level. URA partnered with United Way of Abilene in the facilitation of this CERT training with the goal of developing plans for future trainings.
August 2021
This month, United Rescue Alliance in partnership with Good 360, arranged and facilitated the distribution of over 700 backpacks to children in need in the community of Abilene, and over 5,000 pairs of shoes to our network all around the world.
July 2021
URA Teams worked with The Moore Center and Semilla de Fe Church to provide prayer and supplies to those in need. Thanks to these partnerships, our teams distributed 150 backpacks with school supplies, 75 Wool Blankets, and 200 toys.
June 2021
This June, URA teams partnered with Kabod International to serve children and families in the nation of Belize. This transformation deployment focused on providing tangible resources for preparedness to empower individuals for success.
May 2021
URA teams partnered with Guatemalan organizations and businesses to conduct an outreach benefiting approximately 250 people. Alongside partners, our teams served 41 households in El Rancho Guatemala.
April 2021
URA teams in Guatemala continued to serve the community of Jocotillo. Our teams partnered with the Moore Center Hospital of Guatemala City to distribute 30 bags of food, each weighing approximately 80 pounds.
MARCH 2021
URA teams organized a tornado simulation at Camp Barkeley. They made the scene more realistic through wound makeup, triage set up, and a local ambulance. The simulation gave students the opportunity to apply the knowledge they’ve gathered in their Master’s program…

FEBRUARY 2021
Beginning on Sunday February 14th, the city of Abilene saw a total of over 14 inches of snow and experienced freezing temperatures that hit a record breaking low of -1 degrees F. 23 URA responders assisted in serving the community during the storm totaling up to over 400 hours of volunteer work. Altogether, URA distributed over 700 Chike protein meals, 150 thermal blankets, 5,300 bottles of water and Pepsi, 2,000 hot meals, and 60 pastries.

JANUARY 2021
URA has been working to see that construction projects intended to support affected communities continue despite 2020’s series of setbacks. We are so excited to celebrate the work that has been done to complete sidewalk covering at the West End Primary School on Grand Bahama Island.
