February News and Updates
Disaster Preparedness for Kids
The URA team recently had the incredible opportunity to visit a second-grade class at the Texas Leadership Charter Academy to teach the young students about disaster preparedness. With a hands-on, engaging approach, the team spent the day sharing valuable lessons on how to stay safe in the event of natural disasters like fires, floods, tornadoes, and earthquakes. The children learned about the importance of having an emergency plan at home, the necessity of creating a disaster kit, and the vital role of first responders in keeping communities safe.
United Rescue Alliance made sure the lesson was both educational and fun, using interactive activities, demonstrations, and visuals to keep the students engaged. By teaching the students the basics of disaster preparedness, the team not only equipped them with knowledge that could one day help them stay safe but also fostered a sense of confidence and responsibility in the next generation. The team was thrilled by the enthusiasm and curiosity of the students, and it was clear that the lessons shared that day will stay with them for years to come. United Rescue Alliance is proud to continue its mission of community service, extending its reach to local schools and helping to ensure that children are better prepared for emergencies.
Beltway Womens Leadership Conference
The Beltway Women's Leadership Retreat at United Rescue Alliance's Camp Barkeley proved to be an incredibly impactful experience. From the very beginning, it was evident that the Holy Spirit was moving powerfully, touching hearts and bringing the participants closer together. The retreat provided an opportunity for leaders to deepen their connections with one another while experiencing profound spiritual renewal, leaving with a renewed sense of unity and empowerment.

Additionally, the team participated as evaluators for the Guatemala City Earthquake Simulation Day, helping assess and improve the city’s readiness for potential disaster scenarios. To further their commitment to community safety, the team also hosted a First Aid Training session in the city of Fraijanes, empowering local residents with the essential skills needed to be their for their community
SOS International
United Rescue Alliance founder, Angel Poorman, recently met with SOS International to explore expanding the partnership between their organizations. This productive discussion centered on enhancing collaborative efforts to provide global emergency response services and disaster relief. Live 2 Lead Conference
The team recently attended the inspiring Live 2 Lead Conference, an event organized by the renowned John Maxwell Leadership Conferences. This powerful conference brought together not only the URA team, but also their valued partners and intercessors, all eager to grow in leadership and influence. Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to hear from a diverse lineup of esteemed speakers who shared their insights on various leadership styles and important leadership topics. From discussions on effective communication and building strong teams to personal growth and resilience in leadership, the conference was a learning experience that encouraged each participant to reflect on and develop their own leadership abilities. The team left the event feeling energized and inspired, equipped with valuable tools and strategies to further their mission of service and leadership in the community. Resource Delivery and Partnerships
United Rescue Alliance is incredibly grateful to receive a generous donation from Lowe's, in partnership with Good360, which includes 1,515 weed eaters and 38 bathroom vanities in three different styles. These essential items will play a critical role in our disaster response and rebuilding efforts, helping affected communities restore their homes and landscapes after disasters. The donation reflects Lowe's and Good360’s ongoing commitment to supporting those in need, and URA is excited to put these items to good use as we continue our mission to rebuild and serve communities in times of crisis.
Additionally, URA is grateful to Chike for generously allowing United Rescue Alliance to use their warehouse for storing donated goods and disaster response supplies. This partnership provides URA with the space and resources needed to efficiently organize and distribute essential items to communities in need. In addition to the storage space, Chike is also providing necessary training to ensure the team is fully equipped to manage the warehouse effectively, ensuring the team can respond swiftly and efficiently during disasters. This collaboration strengthens URA’s ability to support those affected by crises, and we’re thankful for Chike’s continued commitment to URA’s mission.
Donation for The Carolinas
In December, a couple who are valued partners and friends of United Rescue Alliance (URA) generously donated their motorhome. In February, the URA team drove to North Carolina to gift it to a family who had lost their home during Hurricane Helene. The RV delivery was a quick and smooth trip, with the team successfully handing off the motorhome to Mike Ritter in Memphis, who then drove it to North Carolina. URA is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with such wonderful friends and to provide this much-needed gift to a family in need.
