Preparing for Renewed Texas Flood Response

As renewed flooding threatened Kerr County and surrounding communities, United Rescue Alliance began preparing to respond with wisdom, compassion, and care. While local conditions remained unsafe for volunteer deployment, URA focused on prayerful preparation, partner coordination, resource staging, volunteer readiness, and clear communication with donors and supporters.

Our team is working to position supplies, prepare trained volunteers to respond, and coordinate with trusted response partners so that help can move quickly when conditions become safe. URA remains committed to standing with Texas families through immediate response, long-term recovery, and the work of restoring hope.

Hill Country Flood Memorial Dedication

United Rescue Alliance partnered with The Coming King Foundation for the Hill Country Flood Memorial Dedication, creating a sacred space to honor families, first responders, volunteers, and community leaders impacted by the flood. Together, we paused to remember what was lost, give thanks for those who served, and stand in faith-filled hope with Kerr County as healing and recovery continue.

Details: 60 white chairs, yellow roses, acorns, Divine Servant pins, and a URA team of 6.

GEM Warehouse Partnership

United Rescue Alliance continued working alongside the Global Empowerment Mission warehouse and trusted partners including Good360, Amazon, The Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, and others to help move donated resources where they were needed most. Through these partnerships, practical supplies continued reaching families across Kerr County as they worked to rebuild, recover, and find hope after the flood.

Survivor Testimony From Resource Distribution

During a Kerrville resource distribution, a flood survivor shared how deeply the donated goods mattered after nearly a year of recovery. His story points to the long road many families still face and the power of practical generosity arriving at the right time.

Household Goods for Flood Survivors

URA returned to Kerr County to support families still rebuilding nearly one year after the flood. Through Good360-supported resources and local partners, families received practical household recovery items such as towels, pillows, cookware, dinnerware, microwaves, drywall supplies, and other essentials.

Impact: 25 families, approximately 50 people impacted, and 237.1 volunteer hours.

Students Serve Long-Term Recovery

URA deployed with Hardin-Simmons University students and leaders to serve in Bumble Bee Hills. The team cleared debris, moved materials, supported property recovery, completed site cleanup, and practiced MESSH-informed care while learning what long-term recovery looks like after disaster.

Impact: 833 service hours and 20 volunteers.

Returning to Help a Family Rebuild

URA returned to the Bumble Bee Hills community in Hunt to support a flood-impacted homeowner with hands-on recovery work, painting rooms, finishing cabinets, delivering needed supplies, and providing emotional and spiritual care during a difficult season of grief and rebuilding.

Impact: 72.5 service hours.

Updates on Johnny and his family

The United Rescue Alliance team stopped in to visit Johnny. We were able to connect with Amazon to document his story and the progress that is continuing to happen in partnership with URA.

Restoring Johnny’s Family Home

The United Rescue Alliance team, and the IRIS harvest school staff, returned to a local community where we've had the honor of walking alongside Johnny over the past few weeks. Together, we've been working with him to restore his generational family home—an irreplaceable piece of his heritage.

Together the team cleared debris from his property, and met needs where it’s needed most. As we worked, we also took time to speak life over the land—declaring God’s promises of restoration, hope, and fruitfulness to take root again where destruction once stood.

This week, we had the joy of delivering a URA box truck to our friends at Somebody Cares America—filled with much-needed resources to help families in Kerrville recover and rebuild. 🙌

The URA team drove the truck from Abilene to hand it over. This is what the Kingdom looks like—shoulder to shoulder, serving together, meeting needs, and pointing hearts to Jesus.

A Can of Spam and a Message from Heaven

We wanted to share a powerful story with you—one that reminds us why your support matters so much. In the midst of the flood recovery in Kerrville, our team met Miles, a man faithfully serving his neighbors and first responders. He never asked for anything, but as our team gathered supplies, the Lord placed something unexpected on our hearts: Spam.

When we delivered the items, Miles lit up. Spam was a childhood favorite from his time in Hawaii—and a comfort food he hadn’t mentioned to anyone. In his words, “I still can’t believe it showed up.” It was more than a can. It was a reminder that God sees, knows, and loves. And because of your generosity, we were able to be the hands that delivered that reminder.

Preparing the Next Response Phase

With the first July deployment complete, United Rescue Alliance did not step away. We immediately began preparing the next wave of service, building on the relationships, warehouse systems, and community trust established during the scout response.

In partnership with Convergence Church, URA prepared to return beginning July 20 with teams ready to serve through practical resources and whole-person care. Planned work included Watts of Love light distribution, solar Bibles, emotional and spiritual support, prayer and intercession, debris removal, and continued warehouse and logistics coordination.

First URA Scout and Response Deployment

At 10:00 AM on July 8, URA deployed its first scout and response team into Kerr County. Over the next seven days, the team listened, assessed, served, and built the operational foundation needed for an ongoing response. What began as an initial deployment quickly became a network of warehouses, partners, resources, and trusted relationships positioned to help families move from crisis toward recovery.

Responders established public-facing distribution at River Hills Mall, finalized warehouse access at Blair’s Warehouse and Redemption Mills, received and organized donated resources, assembled cleaning and hygiene buckets, distributed essential supplies, supported Watts of Love light distribution in Bumble Bee Hills, and connected with local and state disaster leaders.

• Established River Hills Mall as a public-facing distribution space.
• Received supplies from Hill Country Relief, Good360, Ferguson, Chike, and community donors.
• Distributed food, water, protein coffee, cleaning supplies, hygiene items, and 5-gallon buckets.
• Supported light distribution in the Bumble Bee Hills neighborhood.
• Connected with TDEM, churches, Somebody Cares, Good360, Watts of Love, stakeholders, and local leaders.
• Completed a KRBC news interview while the response site was being established.

URA Prepares to Deploy

In the first days after the flood, URA moved from standby into active readiness. A first response and scout team was prepared to deploy from July 8 through July 15, carrying the resources needed to assess the situation, support immediate needs, and begin building a pathway for sustained recovery.

The team prepared a trailer with hygiene kit items, 5-gallon buckets, cleaning supplies, chainsaw equipment, and other disaster response resources. At the same time, early warehouse conversations were already underway with River Hills Mall, Redemption Mills Business Park, and Blair Ford, helping URA prepare not only to arrive, but to establish the logistics needed to serve well.

The Disaster Begins

Between 4:00 and 6:00 AM, the Guadalupe River surged with devastating speed, rising as much as 30 feet in areas. Flooding began in Hunt and moved downstream through Kerr County, leaving catastrophic damage and changing the lives of families and communities before many had time to understand what was happening.

Local, state, and federal responders activated, while Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster partners were placed on standby. For URA, this marked the beginning of a response that would extend far beyond the immediate emergency, walking with survivors through relief, recovery, remembrance, and renewed resilience.
