September News and Updates

Abilene Chamber of Commerce

United Rescue Alliance joined the Abilene Chamber of Commerce! As a member, URA gets to partner with other organizations in the Big Country to help the area become the best possible place to ‘start, expand, and conduct business’. Being connected to neighboring businesses and organizations will allow United Rescue Alliance to harness the power of community on blue sky and gray sky days, make new connections, and bring resources to those in need!

URA Tactical

Every Friday since November of 2023, the United Rescue Alliance team has been meeting for tactical team fitness! Led by Tim Pipes and assisted by Rio Ramelot, this leadership training environment and purposeful lesson planning helps build the team mentally, physically, and spiritually. Sessions focus on physical fitness, functional fueling, nutrition, recovery, and even self-protection concepts. Some goals for the training include progressing toward an appropriate level of physical fitness, critical thinking under stress, sound decision making ability, team contribution, and teamwork to accomplish whatever mission is in front of them team.

CERT Training

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training educates volunteers about basic life saving skills and disaster preparedness. Team members are able to use their new knowledge and skills to volunteer during disasters and assist emergency response organizations and first responders. CERT training includes topics like fire safety, light search and rescue, disaster medical operations, and disaster preparedness.

United Rescue Alliance wants YOU to be the next CERT member! You are welcome to sign up as an individual but everything is more fun in a group so grab your family, your neighbors, your church, and anyone else you can think of and spend December 4-7th getting CERT trained!

URA Guatemala

United Rescue Alliance Guatemala had an exciting month! The team conducted a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training for the Guatemala National Civil Police! This was an amazing opportunity to teach National Police Officers how they can best respond to disaster situations, avoid unnecessary risks, and save lives!

The team also met with valued partners, The Moore Center and Semilla de Fe Church, to begin planning for a medical outreach that they will be conducting in November.
