“These shoes aren't magical… but we know that it's souls for Jesus.”
For 26 years, Coach Sam Nichols has led Basketball Smiles, a faith-driven basketball camp reaching the most overlooked children in Nassau, Bahamas. What began with six basketballs and a willingness to say “yes” has grown into a mission that has impacted over 13,000 children — kids once labeled “trash children” because their school sits next to a landfill.
“We made a covenant… that no child would ever pay.”
This summer, a new chapter began as Basketball Smiles partnered with United Rescue Alliance to receive and deliver 50 brand-new pairs of Nike and Air Jordan shoes to campers in the Bahamas.
“So I thank Jesus Christ for this 50 pairs of shoes that are going to go to Basketball Smiles in the Bahamas.”
Every pair was prayed over at the URA headquarters, with hands laid on each box and hearts fully surrendered to the call of Christ.
“We just speak blessings upon you… that you have a Father in Heaven that loves you, that delights over you, that sings over you.”
“And we speak to every dream that you have subdued — we say: Awaken in the name of Jesus.”
“The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. And we believe it gives room for God to do it again.”
